The Chrono-log GPS (Global Positioning System) Time Synchronization option for the K- Series Multi-System Clock/Calendar provides unattended time synchronization to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) ... anywhere in the world!
Typical accuracy of one (1) microsecond is maintained for computers, transportation systems, control systems, and Time Display Systems in industrial, scientific, military, radio and TV, communications, legal and financial applications.
The Chrono-log GPS Time Synchronization option tracks the four optimum GPS satellites while a fifth channel assigns a backup satellite for each channel. Dedicated to obtaining date and time only, the GPS Synchronization Module requires less time for synchronization, bypassing the almanac and positioning information typically required. The timing pulse is synchronized as soon as a single satellite is tracked.
Operation is automatic, requiring no manual intervention. Once the Multi-System Clock/Calendar is powered up and satellite synchronization has begun, the GPS Synchronization option automatically sets the proper time and date at a continuous rate of once-per-minute. If GPS synchronization is lost, a blinking front panel LED provides an immediate visual indicator and an "@" sign is inserted in the serial output data stream to alert the user system to lack of synchronization.
Automatic Daylight Saving Time/Standard Time adjustments and Time Zone offsets are selectable with internal dip-switch settings.
The GPS-Synchronized Multi-System Clock/Calendar offers several time base options and four independent communication channels with a variety of interface options to distribute synchronized date and time to multiple systems. Power source is switch- selectable for 115 or 230 V AC (50 or 60 Hz) to meet world-wide power generating capabilities.
