Starting with an accurate time source traceable to UTC, the Chrono-log provides synchronized time throughout your system. The Chrono-log Time Displays are driven by the K-Series Clock/Calendars (below) and are a unique, fail-safe system synchronized by receiving and retransmitting an RS422/485 time-of-day data stream five times per second over low-voltage, 2 or 3-wire cabling. Each Remote Display continuously checks for errors and when an error is detected, the Display keeps time independently while transmitting the time to the other Displays on its output chain. In case of power failure to a Display, an internal fail-safe relay bypasses the Display so time signals continue being transmitted to remaining Displays. Indoor and outdoor weather, dust and vandal resistant chassis are available.
Each Chrono-log K-Series Clock/Calendar can provide time to five or more

The K-Series Multi-System Clock/Calendar can be synchronized to Coordinated Universal Time and Date with a low-cost, internal GPS Time Synchronization Receiver which provides automatic synchronization to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) ... anywhere in the world! Reliability is assured since only (1) GPS Satellite is needed for time synchronization ..but (4) Satellites are tracked at all times.

The UTC Phone Sync option sets the Multi-System Clock/Calendar to within 10 ms. of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) by Automatic Phone Calls to NIST (formerly NBS) at power-up and after power failure and at preselected intervals from once-per-hour to once-per-week.

The beginning and ending dates for Daylight Saving Time (DST) were changed with the passage of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Starting in March 2007, DST in the United States will begin on the second Sunday in March and end on the first Sunday in November.
K-Series clocks with a WWV receiver or ACTS\NIST phone sync will not be affected by this change of date because these products use a flag, embedded in the synchronization code, to calculate DST. However, K-Series clocks with GPS receivers are affected, because GPS does not transmit a DST flag.
The Chrono-log K-Series clock with GPS receiver was designed to calculate the DST dates using the current rules. Because the rules have changed, the K-Series clocks with GPS receiver will calculate DST incorrectly. To address this change, Chrono-log is offering a Firmware Upgrade to the K-Series clock, which will calculate DST using the new rules. The extent and cost of the upgrade depends on the age of the K-Series clock, as the upgrade requires replacement of the receiver in older models. The earliest versions of the K-Series clocks with GPS receiver can not be upgraded and will need to be replaced.
